Blog 9: Science Proposal

1. What is your hypothesis?

If a shirt is in the middle of a display stand then it would sell the most.

2. Identify the dependent (produced), independent (manipulated) and control variables in your hypothesis.

The dependent variable is the most sales. The independent variable is the order of the shirts. The control variables is logo staying the same.

3. What is the connection between your science fair project and your senior project EQ?

My science fair project connects to my senior project because my senior project is starting your own clothing line and when i go sell shirts at a show or somewere it would be good to know whitch one ussualy sells more.

4. How will you perform the experiment? Include the equipment you plan on using.

I plan on printing one logo on three different color shirts at club matinee and at Kore skate shop. I believe the one in the middle will get the most. So i am going to change the order of the shirts are hanging every time, using statistics i will prove there is a significant increase of sales in the middle shirt.

5. Which category will your project be listed under? (For a full list of categories, go to the iPoly Physics webpage, then to the Science Fair tab.)

This would go under behavioral science

What I've Learned So Far

1)Ive learned that basically dye sublimation, it gets the ink of the design an instead of painting it on top of the shirt which will eventuall crack an fade, it shoots the ink into the shirt. so it will never crack, fade, an it give the shirt a super soft feel, the ink feels like its the shirt itself.

2) I personaly dont know how to do it but i informed on it and i might be printing my next batch of shirts using this method.

3) I was researching on different types of printing and what would be better and looks better and i liked this one because ive seen some that obey has done and there really nice and good quality.

(1) I only have two in mind, one was counting R.O.P as one since its teaching how to work photoshop, it will help me edit shirt designs, i also wanted to take a graphic design class.
(2) Well im taking more then 30 hours in R.O.P but i would want to do something else also.

Defining the Essential Question

(1) What is most important to being a successful entrepreneur in the clothing industry?(2) "what is most immportant to being a successful" is like the best path or things you can do that will help you. By "entrepreneur" i mean the owner/seller and by "clothing industry" i mean clothing line.
(3) Connections, hard work, good designs, and promotion.
(4) I tend to look at the past of other big companys, I look up too like obey ,the hundreds, stuff like that to see what they did and if they made any mistakes that way i know what to do and what not to do. My most important source would be shepard fairey and the history on how he made OBEY because it made me think and gave me a lot of ideas, also made me realize promoting is really important.

Presentation Reflection

1.  In what way did the first interview affect your presentation?  Please explain, be specific and use an example.
The first interview helped me on what to do my presentation and made me look into researching what i did.
2.  What you say stood out about your presentation performance and why?
I think just meeting all the requirments i had to do. It was really hard, im not a good presenter.
3.  What was the most challenging to do and why?
I think the most challenging thing to do is not freeze up. During presentations i get nervous and tend to freeze up, i was really suprised i didnt this time. Also the LIA thing also pretty difficult to fit in the presentation.

Senior Project Topic

What is your topic?
My topic is what is the most successful way to start and build up your own clothing line.
Why?
Well i havent been debating with three different topics witch were Djing, Modified honda cars, and the clothing line. The reason i picked the clothing line was because thats what i want to do after high school and go to school for. I thought that it would be cool to start on my career earlier. Also I wanted to do something that i liked and was also benefit me.

And what do you hope to accomplish after studying this topic all year?
I hope to get some connections at stores, meet people that help me, i want more people to know about my clothing line, i also want people that i don't know wearing some of my cloths. But the main goal is to have my cloths in a local store.
